From the journey of A, B, C to GuruVandana.
“Guru Vandana” A Program for students to showcase their gratitude to teachers.
On September 12, 2019. I and my Team Aditya, Devanshu conducted an activity at GHS Bagalgunte government school in Bangalore Rural, under Youth For Seva-NGO Platform, on account of Teacher’s day.
In this program, we divided students of class 7th into teams of 4 and 5, each. Asked them to write a thanks note to their favourite teacher. Why they like that teacher, has to be expressed in a poem, jokes or memories of their teachers in class. We provided materials like a white sheet and other stationery items.
The children started discussing the memorable moments they had experienced with the teacher. The occasion helped them to get back into those memorable incidents. Many started showcasing their gratitude by writing poems, and others with their art.
The intention behind the program was to create awareness about the importance of teachers in our life. The respect we are supposed to give them.
We narrated few inspiring stories of Dr. Radhakrishnan, APJ Abdul Kalam sir, The Bond between Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
We invited students to come and share about their favourite teacher on the stage to encourage them to overcome stage fear.
The gratitude note written by students were handed over to their favourite teacher by the students themselves. The happiness and pride of teachers while receiving this surprise gift were immeasurable.
Reading children’s stories and their active engagement in guruvandana program made my day.
Thankyou Youth For Seva for Giving a wonderful opportunity for students like us
